Statement of Faith

ONE LOVE MINISTRIES EXISTS TO TEACH THE WORD OF GOD AND EQUIP THE SAINTS.

The Scriptures: We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the fully inspired Word of God without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which the church operates and is the basis for which the church is governed. We believe that the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalms 19:7-11, 119:105; 2 Peter 1:21; Joshua 1:8; Romans 10:17; John 1:1, 14; Acts 4:18, 5:28).

The Trinity: We believe that there is only one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all things (Genesis 1:1-2; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:30; John 1:2, Hebrews 1:2-3).

God The Father: We believe in the person of God the Father, an infinite, eternal, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ as provided. We believe that God alone is the righteous and sovereign Judge of all the earth, who will judge the living and the dead with perfect justice, impartiality, and truth (Genesis 1:1, Psalm 10:17, 18:30, 50:6, 90:2, 102:27; 1 John 3:1, 4:16; John 3:16, 14:6; Matthew 6:31-32; Romans 11:33; Acts 17:31, 2 Timothy 4:1,8; Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 4:6, Isaiah 65:24; Jeremiah 33:3).

God The Son: We believe in the person of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son. We believe He became a man conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven sitting at the right hand of the Father making intersession for the saints, and His eventual visible return to earth (John 1:1-2, 1:14, 3:16, 8:58, 11:25, 14:1-3; Matthew 1:23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:34-35; Acts 1:11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 8:34, Hebrews 1:8; Revelation 1:7).

God The Holy Spirit: We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit co-eternal, who was sent from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. (John 15:13-16; 1 Samuel 10:10; Ephesians 3:16) We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide (John 14:16-17, 16:8-11; Romans 8:26) We believe in the Baptism with the Holy Spirit as a distinct and separate experience (Acts 1:8), occurring either subsequent to or simultaneous with salvation, evidenced by a greater dynamic in the Christian’s life, enabling that person to be a bold and more effective witness. The supreme evidence of the Spirit-filled life is the fruit of the Spirit, love. We believe in the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit regarding the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the instructions given to us (1 Corinthians 12-14).

Sin and Salvation: We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, falling short of God’s standard by breaking His commandments and therefore are under God’s righteous judgement. We believe that God saves and gives new life to all who come to Him in repentance and faith by trusting in the Person and work of Jesus Christ on the cross. We believe that Jesus died in our place on the cross as our substitute, absorbing God’s wrath for our sins. We believe the invitation to salvation is open to all because Jesus died for every human and whosoever desires may come unto Jesus for new life through the forgiveness of sins through faith. Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross was sufficient and intentionally offered for every human being without exception. “God so loved the world that He gave His Son.” While not all will be saved, the provision of redemption is available to all, making God’s offer of salvation a sincere and authentic invitation to every person (John 3:16; Acts 2:1; Romans 3:23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-4, 8-9; 1 John 1:9, 2:2; 1 Timothy 2:3-6; Hebrews 2:9; 2 Corinthians 5:14–15).

Humanity and Our Responsibility: Humanity is created in the image of God, but we disobeyed God, thereby incurring spiritual death, which is separation from God. While all humanity is genuinely fallen, sinful, and incapable of seeking God through natural ability alone, God extends grace to every person, enabling every individual to genuinely respond to or reject the Gospel. We believe every person has the freedom to choose how they respond to the gospel and to the love of God. Salvation is therefore a genuine cooperation between God’s initiating, enabling grace and humanity’s free, grace-enabled response (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 59:2; Colossians 2:13; Romans 7:10-19, 8:7, 14:12; Galatians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8; Joshua 24:15; Deuteronomy 30:19; John 1:12; Revelation 20:12-15; 22:17).

Ordinances: We believe that the Lord, Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: the full immersion water baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; I Corinthians 11:23-26).

Heaven and Hell: We believe in a literal Heaven. All who place their faith, hope, and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in His presence. (John 14:2; Philippians 3:20; 2 Corinthians 5:1) We believe in a literal hell. Those who reject Jesus as Lord will spend eternity separated from God, under His divine judgment (Matthew 8:12, 25:31-34; Mark 9:42-49; John 3:18; Revelation 14:10-11).

Christ’s Second Coming: We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:7), which is His personal, visible, return to earth, the establishment of His millennial kingdom (Revelation 20:6; Isaiah 2:4), the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal blessing of the righteous and the eternal separation of the wicked. (Matthew 16:27, 24:29-31; Isaiah 26;21 Revelation 1:7, 20:6; Acts 1:11, John 14:1) We believe in the tribulation, we understand that the church will be raptured prior to the tribulation that will come upon the earth (Zechariah 14:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Luke 21:34; Revelation 3:10).

Marriage: We believe that God created humanity and that He created them male and female. As such, He created them different to compliment and edify each other. God instituted monogamous marriages between male and female as the foundation of the family and basic structure of human society. Therefore, we perform marriages only in accordance with the Bible, consistent, as expressed in the Old and New Testament (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 7:1-3, 8-9).

Sanctity of Life: We believe that human life is created by God, is sacred in His sight, and begins at the moment of fertilization/conception. Every unborn child, from the instant of conception, is a unique, living human being made in the image of God (Imago Dei), possessing inherent dignity, worth, and the full right to life. We are therefore committed to the protection, affirmation, and celebration of every human life at every stage, from conception to natural death (Psalms 127:3, 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:4-5; Galatians 1:15).
