About the Role

The Communications Team at One Love Ministries is the bridge that connects our church body and those in the community with the events, activities, and news that is happening within our church. The Communications team is made up of three people, the Communications Director, the Communications Project Coordinator, a Visual Designer. (We hope to add a social media intern or intern(s) to our team before the end of the year.) One Love Ministries has two campuses, both Kakaako and Windward, and has a “sister” ministry called Waikiki Beach Chaplaincy on the beach in Waikiki.

The Communications Team is responsible for keeping people informed with up-to-date, accurate information presented in a creatively engaging way. The Communications Project Coordinator supports the entire marketing calendar for One Love Ministries as part of the admin team and directly supports the Visual Designer, ensuring all communications are done in an orderly way. This individual is responsible for reaching out to existing ministries, leads meetings, establishes project deadlines, and timing responsibilities to the Visual Designer to ensure communications are comprehensive, accurate, and shared on time.

The Communications Team is responsible for increasing the visibility, professionalism, and outreach of One Love Ministries across print, web, and social media. They will drive communication initiatives for the Kaka’ako and Windward campuses to expand the ministry’s reach, influence, and impact. Success in this role ensures that all branded communications reflect excellence and inspire engagement, support, and service, ultimately advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Supervision

The Communications Project Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with various ministries and campuses to ensure internal team activities are property shared within and outside the church.
  • Is a part of the weekly Media team meetings to stay up to date with the needs across departments.
  • Ensure each event has clear tasks and specifications for the Visual Designer (via NTask or similar Project Management Software).
  • Establish a Visual Communications Calendar as the basis for determining monthly, weekly, and daily events (i.e. Christmas, Easter, etc.), activities (i.e. Missions, Memorial Day Picnic, etc.) and teachings (i.e.. Return of Christ conference, discipleship class signups, etc.). tasks for the church.
  • Provide bi-monthly staff updates based on upcoming events and activities.
  • Support content writing, proofreading, and ensure links and forms are working and get delivered to appropriate team members.
  • Handle admin-related responsibilities to support communications team members which include:
    • Working with vendors (estimates, invoices, scheduling pickups, etc.)
    • Managing the communications budget
    • Providing all the information necessary for the Visual Designer to be effective
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Visual Designer to:
    • Provide regular weekly updates to the congregation through email, social media, and in-service announcements, ensuring
      everyone stays informed about events and activities at One Love Ministries.
    • Support the continual development and optimization of One Love, Waikiki Beach Chaplaincy, and GoodNewsHawaii websites, ensuring they are user-friendly and create clear pathways to engagement.
    • Execute a strategic vision to elevate the reach and impact of One Love Ministries’ marketing and communications efforts across all communications channels, including social media engagement.
    • Maintain excellence and consistency across all communication channels for One Love Ministries.
    • Develop and implement initiatives that expand the ministry’s influence and foster clear pathways for discipleship and spiritual growth.

Key Duties

General Communication & Marketing (Website/Print/Video)

  • Oversee the management of church-wide communications and event promotions.
  • Lead the development and usability improvements for OneLove.org and support Waikiki Beach Chaplaincy on an as-needed basis.
  • Ensure corporate standards and guidelines for ministry branding, including specific ministries (e.g., Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Celebrate Recovery) are upheld and consistent.
  • Determine communications needed to be promoted weekly and work with the Visual Designer to accomplish graphic and communication requests for weekly sermons and spotlights, which may include flyers, slides, and pulpit announcements for weekend messaging.
  • Manage external suppliers, including illustrators, printers, merchandisers, and vendors for promotional efforts.
  • Work with the Visual Designer to create new pages on the website for events.
  • Create accompanying sign-up forms for each event webpage as needed for each event or volunteer opportunity.

Social Media & Digital Outreach

  • Work with the Visual Designer to determine a monthly content calendar plan across social media channels that is then implemented by the Social Media Intern(s).
  • Work with the Media team to receive content to promote events, testimonies, and celebrations on social media via Instagram and Facebook.
  • Review and recommend updates to the smartphone app and congregation messaging as needed.
  • Audit and implement new digital marketing tools and strategies as time allows.

Branding & Identity

  • Maintain consistent identities for ministries, including logos, colors, and graphics.
  • Manage branded merchandise, including shirts, stickers, hats, and journals by working alongside The Visual Designer.

Event Promotion

  • Support weekly ministry spotlights, pulpit announcements, and related materials.
  • Organize upcoming events through email newsletters and social media campaigns.

Software & Technical Skills

  • Google Suite/Microsoft Suite
  • NTask or other Project Management Software
  • Mailchimp (Email Marketing Tool)
  • CMS tools (WordPress/Elementor, Squarespace)
  • Good to Have working knowledge of:
    • Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office
    • Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
    • Stock video and design platforms (e.g., Shutterstock, Canva, etc.)

Additional Opportunities

  • Establish initiatives to attract new visitors through optimized website content, pay-per-click ads, and organic search strategies.
  • Establish and share clear Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to leadership and staff.
  • Promote discipleship opportunities such as GoodNewsHawaii and the Foundation Course.
  • Review and restructure the OneLove.org website based on visitor activity and ministry needs to boost engagement.
  • Review best practices for church websites, integrating new ideas and innovations.

Reporting Structure

  • Communications Director: Oversight of training, quality control, strategic vision, and direction.
  • Executive Director/Communications Director: Manages budgets and financial approvals.
  • Media Team: The Visual Designer and Communications Project Coordinator work closely with the Media Team to ensure videos, graphics,
    and slide communications are professional and in-brand.
  • Social Media Intern(s): The Communications Project Coordinator provides oversight to ensure the planned content calendar is accomplished by the Social Media Intern(s) and provides the final approval before any content is published across channels.

Long-Term Goals

  • Enhance the One Love brand across ministries and events.
  • Develop an annual communications plan to expand the ministry’s influence.
  • Help Visual Designer establish an extended website (or microsite) for One Love Windward.
  • Measure and report campaign outcomes to guide future efforts (KPI’s).
  • Increase internal communications and team-building opportunities.
