Aloha! My name is Cindy Tipton, and I have been blessed to serve alongside my husband, Waxer, in ministry for over 35 years! I was born and raised in Southern California and met my husband on a blind date. So yep, blind dates can work. But before that, the Lord had to get my attention. I grew up going to church every Sunday but didn’t really get to know God in a personal way until I was in college. I am so happy He did not let me continue to wander on my own. I cannot even imagine life without Him. There is so much joy in living out a life surrendered to the Lord!

Waxer and I were married on surfboards in Mission Bay, San Diego, in 1991 and that was just the beginning of a life full of adventure. We have travelled to countries all over the world, pastored in San Clemente, San Diego, and Santa Barbara, California, and then planted a church on the island of Molokai where we lived and served for almost eight years. Now we are here on Oahu, where we have had the honor and privilege of starting One Love Ministries over 21 years ago. Well, we all know that God was the one who started the church, not really us, and He has been doing great things ever since.

You can find me up on a ladder painting or cleaning, maybe buying and repurposing furniture — all with the purpose of trying to create a welcoming place here at One Love. You may also find me in the parking lot or behind the front counter, as my desire is for every person to feel seen and welcome. I hope you find that to be true when you are here.

I also love the outdoors and interior design, saying that my “happy place,” besides church, is walking through model homes or hiking out in God’s creation. My life verse is Philippians 4:4–8. If you see me, please come say hi! I’d love to hear your story and maybe help you with your next chapter.
