Matt Coffman

Discipleship Facilitator

Matt was born in Nebraska, where he spent the first 18 years of his life. After high school, he moved to Colorado to attend art college and lived in Denver for 20 years, running a branding and marketing company.

Matt met his lovely wife, a traveling nurse from Connecticut, in 2002 in a bar in Denver. Years later, Matt was saved on the mission field in Thailand, and his wife was saved soon thereafter. Matt and Andrea moved to Oahu in 2008, where they welcomed their first son, Finley. Since then, God has done significant healing work in their marriage and has blessed them with five beautiful, highly creative children.

Matt serves as the Communications Director, helping promote events and ministries at the Kaka’ako and Windward campuses, and occasionally the Waikiki Beach Chaplaincy. He also facilitates the Freedom in Christ Course, One Love’s 24-week discipleship program.

Matt loves the story of the Prodigal Son and Jesus’ missional words in Luke 4, when He says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18–19)

Matt is an advocate of the importance of both the cross and the cave — meaning that Jesus didn’t only come to pay the penalty for our sins, but also to give us new life in Him!
