Does the Bible Condone "Slavery"?

In a word, the answer is "no!" When we use the word “slavery” we conjure up primarily western images from the recent four or five centuries that include terrible abuse. What is described as “slavery” in the Mosaic Law (which was given to Hebrews for a specific period of time which ended at the cross) is so different from our modern idea of what slavery is, that it’s not accurate to refer to it as “slavery”. There is no Biblical word that corresponds to what we think of when we hear or read the word "slavery".

Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?

Every year around Easter time, there is a great deal of speculation about what exactly occured that first Easter nearly 2000 years ago. Did you know that the majority of New Testament scholars, including all the skeptics, agree that the four key events described in the Bible actually DID occur? Zeitgeist, The Movie

There is an Internet movie that many have been troubled by called "Zeitgeist". It is basically a large gumbo of anti-Christian and anti-conservative conspiracy theories cleverly cobbled together with melodramatic music, and is apparently designed to trouble everyone with traditional values and beliefs. They use what Greg Koukl refers to as the "steamroller tactic", piling on so many accusations and claims in rapid succession that it takes a while to process and deal with them, but it can be done. "Recycling" is a great concept where properly applied, but is quite a waste of time when it is simply the recycling of old anti-Christian claims that were refuted years ago.

Would Jesus Support Civil Unions?

There have been several editorials and letters to the editor in the larger newspapers in Hawaii lately making the claim that Jesus would support Civil Unions. Usually the basis for the claim has been a reference to Jesus' teaching us to love one another. While there is no doubt that Jesus taught that precept, can we really infer that to love someone is to support them, regardless of the consequences? If one is to grant that the Bible is the Word of God, and that Jesus is God, what can we reasonably infer about His opinion from what is in it?

Was Darwin a Racist?

As many prepare to celebrate the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin on Thursday, I wonder how many are aware of Darwin's viewpoints on the various human races, and that he was a major influence on Hitler, Stalin and other mass-murderers of recent history. Take a look at some word-for-word quotes from his writings in this article and see what you think.
